Kristen Anne Bell (born 1980) is an American actress and singer. Bell was raised in Huntington Woods, Michigan, and is the daughter of Lorelei (Frygier) who is Nurse, and Tom Bell, a television news director. She has Polish (mother's) as well as German (father's), English, Irish and Scottish ancestry. Kristen developed a talent to perform on a young stage. In 1992, she attended her first audition and won the role of Raggedy Ann and Andy. Bell's mother established her with an agent when she was thirteen, and she got her first role in television advertisements for newspapers and commercials. In addition to having private lessons in acting, she launched her career at that time. Bell was credited as a character in the movie Polish Wedding (1998) in 1998. Bell was a student at Shrine Catholic High School, which was where she participated in musical and drama clubs. The school's show of The Wizard of Oz, Bell was chosen to play Dorothy. After graduating, Bell moved into New York City to attend the highly regarded Tisch School of the Arts and studied musical theater. Bell was a graduate in 2001, resigned her college studies in order to take on the role Becky in Tom Sawyer. She made her first film credits in Pootie Tang in 2001. The scene however it was cut and Bell's only role is the final credits. Bell appeared alongside Angela Bettis and Liam Neeson in 2002's Broadway revival of The Crucible.
